Ecological Footprint Quiz

Posted by Aether under: Community News .

This is a pretty alarming exercise. If you choose to do the quiz, you are asked a handful of questions regarding what you eat, where it comes from, where you live, and how you get around. Pretty straight forward. What got me was feeling like I was answering pretty conservatively, and then finding out at the end that even though I scored considerably better than the vast majority of North Americans, it would still take roughly four and a half planets to sustain my lifestyle for every human on planet earth. Ouch! Makes me wonder if it’s even possible in this day and age to live in North American society at all without an ecological footprint way beyond what would be a balanced interaction.

Scary.. Take the Quiz… if you Dare.

Brought to us by the kind folks at Earth Day Network. And remember, even though Earth Day is everyday, a lot of folks need the annual reminder in the media to warm them to such awareness, so come April 22nd, help celebrate and educate in your community… more to come…

Neither humans as a species nor any of our activities can be understood in any significant manner except in our role in the functioning of the earth and of the universe itself. ~ Thomas Berry
