Global Sound

Posted by Aether under: Community News .

There’s a reason music is called the universal language. And aside from the power and potential of the universe story to unite peoples from all walks of life the earth over, music would be the next in line as a potentially unifying force. There are numerous books regarding the subject, and as a connoisseur of the genre, I have to say they do keep getting better and better.

So imagine taking many of the worlds preeminent thinkers about music, and practitioners of the various musical healing arts, and scientists who have applied themselves to this facet of creation, combined with professionals from film, television, and the music industry who are all passionately interested in music and sound as a healing and socially energizing medium, and putting them all in the same place for a couple of days and what do you get?

The Global Sound Conference, May 9th through the 12th, 2008, in Los Angeles California.

This event has all the hallmarks of a seminal event, because even though it has happened before, this year’s conference has a unique and profound lineup of attendees and presenters, and combined with the growing awareness of the times that we live in, this should prove to be an extremely stimulating couple of days that I suspect will seed some momentous connections.

The folks from the Global Sound Conference are also behind the Global Om project, which (hopefully) will be back again this year in September. Stay Tuned!

We see ourselves now not as Olympian observers against an objective world, but as a functional expression of that very world itself. ~ Thomas Berry
