We are living in extraordinarily powerful and profound times, witnessing evolutionary changes on a magnitude that defies rational comprehension. These shifts are taking place in our hearts, in our communities, in our biology, genetics, and through the earth herself. At such a seminal time it is paramount to maintain a perspective that empowers us to remain grounded in our hearts and not get caught up in the fear, for I believe that is the only distinction that truly counts. The earth is changing, faster than we would care to believe. The global shift is underway whether we like it or not. And our hearts are the battleground…

This 16 minute video (Take the Time!) was posted a little over a week ago and it already has tens of thousands of views ~ let’s help make it viral, because the perspective that it offers is truly magnificent.

A Passionate Plea

Will there even be a seventh generation from now? We apparently don’t have the capability anymore to be mindful of the seventh generation, but how about starting with the next generation? This most passionate and inspirational plea from a 13 year old girl from Vancouver has apparently been circulating for a while now, but like all great speeches, it has a timeless quality to it, and continues to be relevant. What effect would this video have if it became part of the curriculum at political science universities?

She raises so many good points, but mostly I feel that the depth of her meaning is to remind us to see the forest for the trees. I think that the major shortcoming of the vast majority of environmental discussions, and scientific discussions for that matter, is that they get so lost in the minutiae that they easily forget to place the thoughts in the greater holistic context, and to take the time to find the greater meaning beyond the argument.

My favorite quote of hers ~ “If you don’t know how to fix it, please stop breaking it.”

The Evolutionary Manifesto

John Stewart of “Evolution’s Arrow” fame has published his manifesto that clearly and succinctly presents evolution as the guiding force behind any real hope that our species has of navigating through the difficult waters of our contemporary existence. It is, quite simply, brilliant, and worthy of attention.

This short book is helping to promote a significant evolutionary shift in which increasing numbers of individuals are seeing themselves as having a conscious role in the future evolution of life on earth. The Manifesto demonstrates the potential of the worldview to provide meaning and purpose for human existence, and uses it to identify the actions that we need to take if humanity is to fulfill its potential to contribute positively to the future evolution of life in the universe. I can’t help wanting to spread this powerful little booklet around as widely as possible.
